The Ladies of Lola & Emily
It is no secret how much I like the ladies who work at the store. We have been incredibly lucky in finding such lovely, responsible, interesting, smart and fun girls over the years and I am very aware of the fact that they are a large part of why people like to shop here, and one of the reasons why we want to give them as much of a voice on here as they want.
They are also a large part of why I personally like to come to work. Here’s what I arrived here to this morning:
Now, let me first address my definition of “morning” given that you can clearly see that the clock says 10:55. BUT, you should know that the clock is at least 5 minutes fast. And I admired the sign for a good 6 minutes before deciding to take a picture of it and share it with you. Plus I had to find the camera, change the batteries…. another 4 minutes there. And, you know, I had to walk ALL THE WAY from the front to the back of the store before I even saw it… 45 seconds. So, really, I was here at work at like… 10:42 am. Pretty respectable, I think. Whatever.
The point here is…. how cute is this? Take a closer look at it:

This should come as no surprise to me, because it was done by Lolo… (or Laurence as her parents call her), apparently with some input from Katye who just wandered in and gave me the rundown on it (although she was very clear to point out that Lolo was the brains behind the concept and execution of this whole project…): Apparently Lolo wanted to make us happy this morning, so she chose to make us this sign. Katye suggested the car… and maybe a house. Lolo decided on the car and a rocket. I like everything about it. And it did make me happy this morning, Lolo.
Almost as happy as it did on my birthday when Lolo gave me this:

I mean, seriously? Who has employees like this??? I’m not going to lie… I got very teary when I opened this. Not to focus only on Lolo’s gift though, because Katye came in on her day off and made me lunch, Zyanna bought me an orchid and the other girls who didn’t even really know me that well (at the time) both called me and left me messages to say Happy Birthday. How awesome are they?
So, here’s to you… the ladies of Lola & Emily… from the first ones, Jasmine and Emilie through Malin and Jill and Catherine… to today… and everyone in between. Thanks for making it fun to come to work. Except when you haven’t mopped the floor. Or fixed the racks. Jill.

Oh Lolo……I love you…and all the girls too! BUT……….did you forget that I was out of town?????
I love you anyways…and always….
xx
