SAG Awards

January 31, 2011

Alright, I have to admit that watching this ‘red carpet’ was SO much less fun than the Golden Globes, mainly because I didn’t want to bother Amanda with clothing commentary, which somehow seems slightly less important now that she is a mother.  Thankfully, my friend Liz was available to engage in some text-critique.  I admit I wasn’t at my best, given that I had quite a late night (read lots of vodka) at my friend’s Gypsy/Romanian/Vodka/Moustache party the night before.  Actually, now that I think about it, I wish I had taken photos of that.  Correction, I wish someone who was a good photographer had taken pictures of that party so that I could comment on some of the AWESOME get ups people were sporting, but, well, strangely there were no paparazzi there… Anyhow, I am pretty sure that my picks for best dressed are the same as a lot of the comments already out there…

Mila Kunis. Gorgeous.

January Jones. Gorgeous, but annoying.

Hailee Steinfeld. She's 14... this just seemed perfect to me.

Jennifer Lawrence... I don't love the black bow and shoes, but I was just so into the colour... plus I just saw Winter's Bone and thought she was amazing, so maybe that's affecting my judgement

Lea Michele... ok, I admit I also sort of find her annoying, and this is not a mind-blowing dress. I think she looks very Eva Longoria/Penelope Cruz-ish, but for some reason I liked it...

What I am more interested in is the text exchange between Liz and I.  I’m not sure why, but when re-reading it today I thought it was kind of funny, mainly because it is so not really about the clothes, and silly.

me: I love January Jones’ dress… but she kinda bugs me

Liz: LOVE her dress and hair… she is gorge…. But agreed she is a bit annoying… also can’t deal with how gorgeous Mila Kunis is… riiiiiiiiggggghhhhhttt?

me: Totally gorgeous! I don’t know what it is but I hate Claire Danes…

Liz: I know I don’t like her either…. she really has NO boobs.

me: I know…Don’t love Natalie Portman’s overall look tho… Not sure why… Ugh.  I still feel SO terrible…

Liz: She looks too fake tanned maybe?

me: Maybe… I dunno… Amy Adams looks kinda crap, no?

Liz: I feel like James Franco used to be so much hotter, no?

me: He’s cute tho… I like him!

Liz: Ya I like him too- he should go out with Anne Hathaway… they’d be a good couple

me: He’d be pretty cute with Mila Kunis too….

Liz: Ooooooooooooooooh yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

I mean, again, I probably don’t need to point out that me saying that Amy Adams looks kinda crap was particularly ironic given that at the time that I said it, I was lying on my couch, in my sweatpants with the extra ‘gypsy-ish’ black eyeliner I had worn the other night half on and half off, my hair looking particularly bird’s nest-ish and my skin generally looking like I had had one (or 6) too many vodka shots… so, with all due respect to everyone I made the above comments about… You all looked 100,000 times better than me, so you have nothing to worry about.  Having said that, January Jones, you are still a terrible interviewee…
