Annnnnd….we are BACK!!!
Thanks to our besties over at Cloudraker!!!
As Amanda put it earlier today: “Why are they so good to us??“ And she is totally right. We feel so lucky for the support and kindness that we often receive from family, friends, acquaintances and colleagues. It makes me want to be sure that Lola & Emily returns… or better yet… initiates some of this kindness to others in our community.
It has been a tough year for us, for a number of different reasons, both personally and professionally, and I admit that my outlook near the end of 2011 was not exactly the most positive or sunny. But I can honestly say that in the first few days of 2012, I am already feeling more optimistic and excited and hopeful and of course a big part of that right now is directed at Christina and her colleagues at Cloudraker for their unexpected but so dearly appreciated offer of help with the website. And basically, they did it just because that’s the way they roll, and they knew they might have the expertise that we don’t…
So cheers Cloudraker. Today, you are our heros. At some point, hopefully we will be yours…. I mean… that’s unlikely, given that a large part of our admiration for you right now is in regards to your abilities to understand and decipher all of the malicious code and hacking and there is NO chance that you will ever admire us for the same thing… but we do have some really cute clothes… and we are trying to find more ways to support others and ‘pay it forward’… and if all else fails, we make a mean batch of cookies. So, maybe?

Back when you first opened, I was in my mid-twenties and, like most folks in their mid-twenties, I had limited disposable income. I was a loyal customer from the get-go, but that mostly involved coming in and touching things then leaving and promising myself ‘ONE DAY!!!’. Upon one such visit, I fell head over heels in love with a green floral Susana Monaco dress that I had no occasion for, and barely enough room on my credit card to purchase. After three visits back to the store to say hello to my dress, I buckled. Once up at the cash you surprised me with a massive discount (silly massive) and didn’t make a fuss about it. You knew that the purchase was a big deal for me AND THAT I NEEDED THAT DAMN DRESS. I have purchased a lot of my favourite things at L&E over the years, and loved all my stuff, but that little green dress bought close to a decade ago still hangs in my closet. It took ten years, but consider this a long overdue thank you. Here’s to a wonderful new year filled with pretty green dresses and random acts of kindness for you and Amanda and all the gals at L&E.
I got a little teary reading that Christina! Your support means more than we can say! X
My days will now be complete. I have missed your blogs etc. Love Mom xoxo
I remember that Susana Monaco dress SO well, Christina!!! I couldn’t be happier to know that 10 years later, it’s still hanging happily in your closet. Many, many thanks for your support. Lola & Emily would not be what it is without customers like you. xoxoxo
