Golden Globes Love It Or Leave It

January 16, 2012

I admit it…..I missed the whole Red Carpet last night, I did watch some of the Golden Globes though, enough to see what everyone was wearing but I spent a lot of time tilting my head and squinting at the tv and just scratching my head trying to figure out if I liked the dresses? If they were as hideous as I was thinking? And if they were not weird/ugly  were they all just really boring?

What did you think of the show? And please ,please help me and let me know what you think of some of these dresses???????

Zooey Deschanel in Prada

I usually think Zooey is cute, I try to copy her hair…..but I DO NOT like this look AT ALL. I don’t even think she looks cute.

Lea Michele in Marchesa

Gross.

I either think its totally gorgeous and awesome or really, really too much?

Sarah Michelle Gellar in Monique Lhullier

Ummmmm? What? Why? My sources tell me that she looked THE WORST by like ALOT???? I really don’t like this dress. I like her though, but maybe a little less now…..

Michelle Williams in Jason Wu

Nope, nope nope. Get that thing off you head and give your dress a v-neck, add some red/orangey lipstick and I LOVE IT!

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace

I’m over her and her boring gown choices.

Okay, I have been brutally honest, now let me know what you think!

  1. Agree on Zooey. It was like she was mid hair-cut or something. She had weird bits of hair sticking out. And Lea Michele was trying too hard to be sexy or something.

  2. Absolutely L.O.V.E. Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Monique Lhullier’s dress! The “Tie Dye” effect is fresh and young and so not Hollywood. it would be better suited on the Croisette in Cannes which is one of the reasons why I am so agreeing to the bold move. Big yawn on the rest of the dresses…

  3. Totally agree- nobody stood out as amazing.

  4. Laura Dern! Perfection! Who knew??!

  5. yeah, i agree with you marn! The dresses i did like though, are the following: Emma Stone (of course), Selma Hyak,(the top half) Claire Danes (for the minimalism) and…well, there were a few more but i can’t remember right now. Did you notice that there were a ton of green/blue dresses!

  6. oh, and there were way tooooooo many mermaid cut dresses. blah!

  7. Jessica Chastain was Very élégante and Tilda Swinton was super cool I think. Normally, I adore what Emma Stone wear, but not yesterday…

  8. I’m totally with you Amanda…

Zooey… I actually kind of liked the dress on her, but the hair was so overwhelming and globe like I couldn’t see past it…

Lea Michele seriously bugs me so much I can’t even look at her. Watching her pose on the red carpet made me want to punch her in the face.

Angelina… I totally get the boring comment, but when she arrived on the red carpet, I really thought she looked gorgeous… just so old school, glamour. In looking at the dress again, the front was a little too all up in her grill… like it could have been lowered by 6 inches to be a little sexier. But I was happy to see her in something fitted. It made her body look better than those sacs she normally wears.

Sarah Michelle Gellar… I wasn’t into that dress at all. It was too much, on all levels.

My faves were Claire Danes, Charlize Theron, Emma Stone (although on TV the colour looked a little ‘burgundy’… she called it ‘purple’ so I am hoping that it just didn’t show up properly… because burgundy? Blech. And Jessica Alba. I still don’t like her much, but I am a sucker for anything lilac-y and sparkly… I liked Salma Hayek’s too… And Rooney Mara. It suited her… but possibly a little too in Dragon Tattoo character?

Other notables: Piper Perabo? WTF!? Elle McPherson… that was hella-ugly. And Reese Witherspoon. Blah. And seemed a tiny bit too small or something. Mila Kunis, I was expecting something a little prettier… having said that, she looked like she was having a blast and almost as comfortable as if she was wearing sweatpants.

All in all it was not the most awe-inspiring red carpet. Right??? I haven’t had a chance yet today to look at any of the blogs so I’m not sure what everyone else was thinking…

  9. Scrolling down and seeing “gross” made me laugh out loud and totally summed up the dresses. It also summed up my day that began with putting on a brand new pair of black suede wedges, leaving my house this am only to find myself staring at the sky only a few strides into my day. Yep, there I was flat on my aching back lying on a snowy, icy walkway in my brand new shitty boots! Oh and when I was able to get up and brush myself off I noticed that my purse was FULL of snow!!!

  10. Apparently Sarah Michelle Gellar’s daughter helped pick out her dress. My question is: Why the hell would she do that? She looked horrible! Yuck!

Marnie, I agree with you about Lea Michelle. I would’ve thrown a shoe at her face. The dress itself was interesting, but she made it look stupid. Someone really needs to stop giving her work.

Did anyone see Evan Rachel Wood’s dress? Now THAT was stunning.
I also thought Angelina looked gorgeous. Very Old Hollywood.
