Accessory fave: bright polish

I sort of have this addiction to nail polish. I can’t even remember the last time my nails were bare. And with the constant influx of bright shades that land on my doorstep thanks to the lovely PR ladies who know my lacquer love well, the temptation to try out something new never really subsides. Enter warmer weather, and suddenly it’s a full blown must-have in my book. With the polish trend craze happening right now, I’m surely not alone on this train of thought. But instead of appliques and nail art, I like to stick to the good ol’ colour basics. My fave being a bright coral orange– Essie My Chihuahua Bites was long a go-to summertime manicure staple. For spring summer 2012 Essie’s Ole Caliente tops my list and Maybelline’s Color Show in Green With Envy is nothing if not the perfect minty hue to satiate my pastel manicure ambitions. Plus, seriously is there anything cuter than a bright mani paired with these adorable Yosi Samra flats?!

So, you know, I go out to get lunch for Amanda and I and come back to find Amanda lounging on the couch.

Like, really? That’s what you do as soon as I step out of the store for a minute?!

Ahaha. Just kidding. That would more likely be me.

As it happens, we were just trying to have some fun taking pics of the new AMAZING Yosi flats we received because it’s kind of quiet in the store today. So, why don’t you come down and keep us company, and maybe get yourself a pair of these Yosi flats at the same time.

Amanda got a call from her high school, The Study, to see if she would be interested in having a visit from a current 2nd grade student to be interviewed about her job. Obvi, she said yes. So today, Arwen arrived at the store with her iPad, all ready for her interview.

I couldn’t hear all of the interview, as Arwen was a bit shy, and spoke very low… she is 7 years old, so you know, that seems pretty fair… But I did hear this:

Arwen: How did you become a fashion designer?

Amanda: Well, I’m not a fashion designer, but I own a store where we buy clothes from fashion designers.

Arwen: Did you have to go to school to become a fashion designer?

Amanda: I went to school to study fashion merchandising, and I started that after CEGEP.

Arwen: Does the dog ever try on the shoes or the clothes?

Amanda: No… but sometimes she does try on the headbands and scarves.

Arwen: Do you like shiny, sparkly things?

Amanda: YES!

This Velvet tunic is perfect for summer. The blue colour is amazing and the neutral embroidery colours give it a sort of ‘earthy’ feel. It hits mid-thigh, so it can be worn as a dress when you’re feeling like showing off your rocking gams (ahahahahaha…. “gams”… I feel like I’m an 84-year old man who used to work in the pictures with some great dames…) or you can wear it as a ‘tunic’ over skinny jeans. So really, it’s like a 2-in-1 purchase.

I like Charlize Theron. She’s stunningly beautiful. She appears to have her sh*t completely together. She just adopted a child, so I’m happy for her. And she makes private jet travel look even more appealing than it already is. Here she is taking a jet from Paris to London for some movie promo or something… and I could only dream of looking this fantastic on a HUGE night out, which would be the ultimate reveal after I had gone away for a year, only eaten lettuce and water with lemon and cayenne pepper, done yoga and zumba for 6 hours a day, and had a complete makeover. And she’s just takin’ a plane somewhere with her kid. Props to you, Ms. Theron.
